Note: 2014-2019 models with the EDC17C79 PCM do not require a send-in service. 2018+ models require a Smart Access Cable to bypass the security gateway.

Enable custom tuning on your 2015+ Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, or RAM vehicle with the HP Tuners PCM Upgrade Service. Most 2015 and newer FCA vehicles come with a factory-installed locked PCM that prevents tuning. This one-time, send-in service upgrades your original or spare PCM, so it is fully accessible via the HP Tuners VCM Suite. Once upgraded, you can use an HP Tuners interface (MPVI2, MPVI3, or MPVI4) to scan, diagnose, and flash custom tunes directly through your vehicle's OBDII port.

*PCMs with broken “LOCKING” tabs or connectors WILL NOT be accepted for upgrades. Please read all of the notes carefully before purchasing!

Shipping

Process: Remove your PCM and ship it to HP Tuners. If you are sending in your stock PCM, remove the PCM from your vehicle. Package the PCM safely, then write your order number on the outside of the shipping box. Now ship your PCM to HP Tuners using your preferred carrier. The shipping address is in the "Shipping" section below.

For American Customers: You are responsible for the cost of shipping the PCM to HP Tuners. The shipping charge at checkout only covers the return shipping after the service is complete. For Canadian Customers: We will cover shipping and provide a label for you to directly send it to HP Tuners.

Installation

• Once you receive your upgraded PCM, install it back into your vehicle. Then, license the upgraded PCM by purchasing the required number of MPVI/Universal Credits (sold separately; see the vehicle list for credit costs). Once licensed, start tuning with your MPVIx interface and the latest version of VCM Suite BETA.

Notes

• Please note this service is required to tune your 2015+ Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep/RAM (all FCA models, except the 2015+ Dodge Viper and 2014 to 2019 Jeep/Dodge/Ram vehicles with the EDC17C79 PCM).
• In addition to this service, all 2018+ models require an HP Tuners Dodge 2018+ Smart Access Cable.  We recommend purchasing this cable separately to avoid delays.
• Please ensure you are sending in ONLY a PCM. No brackets, rubber isolators, or other pieces should be included. These components may not be returned with your upgraded PCM.
• PCMs with broken “LOCKING” tabs or connectors WILL NOT be accepted for upgrades. No exceptions.
• This is a one-time upgrade that will not affect other PCM operations. The factory tools will still work for service.
• While there is no hardware change, the back cover of the PCM must be removed.
• EDC17C79 PCMs installed in 2014 to 2019 Jeep/Dodge/Ram vehicles do not need to be upgraded. The EDC17C79 PCM will update upon the first read of the ECM, enabling read/write access.
• As of 12/21/2015, ALL non-original 2015+ Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep/RAM PCMs that are sent in for upgrade must have a stock read performed before it is shipped to HPTuners. This read must be uploaded before adding the Upgrade service to the cart.
• Gen 3 EcoDiesel PCMs cannot be read prior to upgrade. Any spare or non-original PCMs will need to be programmed to the vehicle before or after the upgrade by HP Tuners—this is the responsibility of the customer.
• If you are sending HPTuners a spare PCM, please include a read from the stock PCM. The stock read must be done as a GPEC2A, 2015+ Dodge or a GPEC2, 2015+ Dodge (depending on which PCM the vehicle is equipped with. Please see the Dodge PCM Identification Thread if you are unsure which PCM you have. If you do not have access to perform the read, please download the latest update from your customer page and try again.
• Once ordered, you can send either an original PCM or a spare. The spare has to be a compatible PCM.
