You may notice there are 2 types of forks within your transfer case, a mode fork and a range fork. While you may think they do the same thing, they operate and engage different drive modes within your transfer case. Your mode fork is responsible for 2WD and 4WD engagement, while the range fork selects between your high and low gears when you are in 4WD.
